We are one but we are many

Gamification Symmetry With Maslows Hierarchy of Needs – A Model To #Improve, #Engage and #Perform

Neuroscience identified key chemical transmissions that entertain the human psyche amidst the concurrent ebb and flow of information in a distracted age. Individually (and collectively) we are all subject to undercurrents (#ChaosTheory and Complex Adaptive Systems) that geminate through the tenets of greed, exploitation, violence and especially fear – yet these are often false assumptions that only give rise to the opposing party’s ego and power structures. These manifestations are directly linked to specific behavioural attributes that can be aligned with #organistaional_psychology and form the basis of actions of individuals (and the collective). Brett Brosseau’s excellent article links each of the transmitters of dopamine, serotonin, endorphins and oxytocin succinctly and describes in brief the actions that ensue as a result of its relevant transmission (a snipette of which is included below).

In the academic and organisational context, each of these behaviours underpin challenges that pervade employees across the full gamut of the organisational structure, hierarchy and/or DNA. So how can this be related to change management, teamwork, collaboration and more importantly, global wellbeing? The answer lies in between the lines across the following set of articles that I have written through the lens of appreciative inquiry of which the link back to theory is against the seminal Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs which is referenced at the end of the article and the link back that Brett captures intrinsically.

For starters, it is true that the current landscape is one of immense perturbation, with the array of divergences and convergences against values, mental models and operating framework that prevents ‘getting things done’! For reference, I include a snipette from an article I wrote on Bioteams entitled ‘Keeping Virtual Teams Focused In The Pandemic Era‘ wherein I have postulated:

Economies have tumbled, organisations that relied on open office spaces and hot desking as modes of productivity have switched entirely to distributed and virtual working from home. Not to forget, other words in the mainstream have surfaced with strong degrees of truth, such as the fact that the need to adapt and pivot business models is more important now than ever! Re-inventing the value chain within executive teams now occur virtually, involve everyone in the organisation and virtual meeting toll Zoom has definitely inherited some great PR, user adoption and a booming share price as a result!

This is relatable to current supply and demand side stress facing SMEs, economies, central banks and institutions worldwide as a) organisational silos are omnipresent b) collaboration has various permutations and c) innovation has many faces and comes from may places. I have written about these amidst my limited bandwidth on the #Twitter_Threads section and aim to expand on these over time!

EDIT: GMT+12 / 1433 180922 TBC—-I will be adding more to this – it is after all, sunday, family and wife day!
